STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - The student newspaper at Oklahoma State University is changing its name and dropping its print publication to three days a week instead of five.
The Oklahoma State University Student Media Board voted this week to accept The Daily O’Collegian’s request to reduce the paper’s print publication to Monday, Wednesday and Friday instead of five days a week. The board also approved the newspaper’s request to change the publication’s name to the O’Colly and move from a broadsheet to a tabloid format. The changes go into effect this fall.
O’Colly editor-in-chief Kyle Hinchey says the change allows the staff to transition toward becoming a “24/7 media company” rather than a five-day-a-week newspaper.
The newspaper says all students will be trained in writing, digital media and social media.
