BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - Officials in southwestern Montana have identified the Canadian man who died in a snowmobile crash just north of Yellowstone National Park.

The Park County sheriff’s office tells the Bozeman Daily Chronicle (https://bit.ly/1giTYyW ) that 48-year-old Brian MacPherson of Martensville, Saskatchewan died shortly after noon Thursday near Cooke City. Officials say MacPherson tried to jump a creek and crashed.

A search and rescue member arrived within minutes of the crash, but resuscitation efforts failed.
