WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Fitchburg man who punched a pedestrian who complained he was driving too fast in 2012, a blow that led to the man’s death, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
The Sentinel & Enterprise (https://bit.ly/1m3n6SU ) reports that Glenn Lowell Sr. was sentenced to five years’ probation on Thursday after pleading guilty to charges related to the June 2012 death of Gregory Spyropoulos (spuh-ROPP’-uh-liss).
Authorities say the 50-year-old Spyropoulos was crossing a city street when he yelled at Lowell.
Police say Lowell stopped, got out and punched Spyropoulos, who fell to the ground and suffered a head injury. He died at a hospital three days later.
Lowell fled, but turned himself into police days later. Lowell claimed the other man threw the first punch.
Prosecutors say Spyropoulos’ family approved of the deal.
