PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - Firefighters say an open gas line caused by a heater that fell off a wall led to high levels of natural gas inside a New Hampshire furniture store, forcing an evacuation and road closure.

Fire Chief Steve Achilles in Portsmouth tells the Portsmouth Herald (https://bit.ly/PzPUW1) as the Allen Wayside Furniture store was ventilated Thursday morning, the gas level reached a point where a spark could have caused an explosion. Crews turned off power and phone service to be safe.

No one was hurt.
