DERIDDER, La. (AP) - Students in Beauregard Parish will have a little more room to show off their style next school year, but they won’t be able to accessorize with electronic cigarettes or a specific kind of piercing.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) the Beauregard Parish School Board approved revisions to its dress code and discipline policies Thursday.

Students in grades Pre-K to 5 will be allowed to wear socks of any color or design; those in grades 6-12 will be limited to certain colors for those longer than ankle length. Ankle socks can be of any design for the latter grades.

The board closed a policy loophole by voting to prohibit the use of electronic cigarettes beginning in the 2014-2015 school year.
