MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Darius Sparks hit a clutch 3-pointer and Ben Weisbeck was 4 of 6 from the free-throw line in overtime to lift Bismarck St. Mary’s over Bismarck Century 67-62 in a semifinal matchup at the North Dakota Class A boys basketball tournament Friday.
The Saints (20-4) appeared to have the game locked down with less than 10 seconds to play, but the Patriots’ (22-2) Dalton Feeney stole the ball and was able to beat the buzzer for a layup to send the game to overtime tied at 54.
Sparks led the Saints with 19 points, despite having just five to start the second half. The Saints got a strong start from Ross Kopp in the first, who scored 13 of the team’s 26 points. Weisbeck finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Feeney scored 16 points. Tyler Rudolph finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Ramey Schatz added 12 points.
