BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The state’s top federal prosecutor says three people have been charged with drug possession charges as part of an investigation on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in the heart of North Dakota oil country.

U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon on Friday announced the charges stemming from the probe dubbed “Operation Winter’s End.”

Twenty-one-year-old Jaron Licea, 23-year-old Jesse O. Licea, both of Watford City, and 22-year-old Kristin Marie-Joyce Gould, of St. Clair Shores, Mich., were arrested Wednesday after federal officials searched a property near New Town.

Court records don’t list attorneys for the individuals.

Purdon says 19 firearms were seized during the search.

Federal officials have increased policing efforts in oil country by adding several FBI agents in Minot and Bismarck and a Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agent in Bismarck.
