HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Chandler Thompson scored 15 points to lead Brookland to the school’s first state championship with a 60-50 win over Lonoke in the boys Class 4A title game.

Reece Gamling added 12 points, and William Ballard had 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Bearcats (28-6), who were in the championship game for the first time in school history.

Brookland led by as many as 13 points in the first half, but the Jackrabbits (26-6) cut the lead to 38-34 early in the fourth quarter. Thompson, named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, hit eight free throws after that to help secure the win.



Blake Mack led Lonoke, which was seeking its sixth state title, with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
