NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say residents around the East Harlem explosion area should limit their outdoor exposure due to air quality issues.

They say pollution from the fire should not impact healthy people, but could affect the elderly, children or the ill.

The health department recommends staying indoors when possible and keeping doors and windows closed.

The fire was still smoldering on Thursday.

Officials said there is no sign of asbestos in the air.
