GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Weld County health officials report at least five outbreaks of Norovirus this year, with most occurring in nursing homes.
Erik Aakko of the county’s health department says four cases of the ailment involve multiple people in nursing homes and one case was related to a family gathering.
Aakko tells The Greeley Tribune (https://bit.ly/1goddLU ) that the health department would not release the names of the nursing homes where the outbreaks have occurred.
Norovirus is a highly contagious bug that is the leading cause of outbreaks of diarrhea and vomiting in the United States.
Last year, Weld County had a total of eight outbreaks of the virus, with seven of the outbreaks occurring at long-term care facilities.
