HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (AP) - Low-wage McDonald’s workers in Highland Park and other locations in Michigan have sued the restaurant chain as part of a three-state legal action over its pay policies.
The lawsuits say McDonalds’s sometimes forces workers to wait before clocking in as a way to increase profits. McDonald’s says it’s investigating the allegations.
Two suits announced Thursday were filed in U.S. District Court in Detroit, in addition to suits filed in California and New York.
A suit in Detroit federal court says McDonalds failed to pay Montel Pullen what he earned at an outlet in the Detroit enclave of Highland Park. The suit says he has worked at the location since 2010 for $7.50 an hour.
The Detroit suits also name seven other Detroit-area McDonald’s workers.
