HILO, Hawaii (AP) - A Big Island man has been indicted in last year’s stabbing death of his friend.
Hawaii Tribune-Herald (https://ow.ly/uyOHS ) reports the indictment returned Wednesday charges 35-year-old David True Seal with second-degree murder. He’s accused of stabbing 32-year-old Rory Thompson Wick in the heart and left lung in a Puna subdivision. The two men were friends who knew each other from Hana High School on Maui.
Seal escaped from the Hawaii State Hospital in 2009 by scaling a 14-foot-high fence. He was committed to the mental hospital in April 2002 after being acquitted by reason of insanity for the kidnapping and attempted rape of an 8-year-old girl on Maui.
A hearing is scheduled for March 25 on whether he is mentally fit to proceed in the case involving Wick.
