MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Utility crews pinpointed the source of a gas leak in south Minneapolis after commercial buildings and two houses were evacuated and a heavily-traveled avenue was closed.
Centerpoint Energy says workers found a problem with an underground gas main near Hiawatha Ave. late Wednesday.
Minneapolis Deputy Fire Chief Don Leedham tells KARE-TV (https://kare11.tv/N9AxkW ) a section of the road was closed Wednesday during rush hour because the gas level had reached the “explosive range.”
Archer Daniels Midland and three other commercial buildings were temporarily evacuated, as well as the two homes.
