MONTROSE, Colo. (AP) - A former Montrose deputy district attorney has pleaded guilty to an alcohol-related traffic offense.

John Mehlig pleaded guilty on Wednesday to driving while ability impaired. He had been charged with DUI and careless driving after a traffic accident last year, when he was still employed as a prosecutor. The district attorney did not return a phone call Thursday about sentencing.

According to the Montrose Daily Press (https://tinyurl.com/n47qqt9 ), Montrose police officers found Mehlig behind the wheel of his vehicle after it hit a light pole.

Investigators say the accident caused minor damage to the truck and the power pole. No injuries were reported.
