English soccer player gets 10-game ban for biting

LONDON (AP) - An English lower-league player has been banned 10 matches by the English Football Association for biting an opponent during a game.

Joss Labadie, who plays for fourth-tier team Torquay, was charged by the FA with violent conduct following a match against Chesterfield on Feb. 15. The FA says in a statement released on Wednesday that Labadie was found guilty of the charge at a hearing of an independent panel. Labadie had denied the charge.

Torquay says in a statement that the club is considering its options before deciding to appeal.

Last April, Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was banned 10 matches for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during a Premier League game.
