ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (AP) - Two drivers face charges following a head-on crash on a northern New Jersey highway that left a woman seriously injured.
Bergen County prosecutors say 28-year-old Steven Baker of Newark was driving drunk and traveling the wrong way on Route 46 East in Elmwood Park when he crashed into a car driven by 25-year-old Harry Halvorsen III of Wallington.
The accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Prosecutors say both men were charged with driving with suspended licenses, and each suffered minor injuries.
Halvorsen’s car caught fire after the crash and his passenger, 25-year-old Jessica Wagoner of Lyndhurst,was pulled from the vehicle by two Good Samaritans. She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, but further details on her condition were not disclosed.
Baker faces numerous counts, including assault by auto.
