DENVER (AP) - Denver police say a woman has been slightly injured after one of its officers fired a weapon while pursuing a fleeing suspect.

The woman was taken to a hospital for what a police spokesman described as a superficial wound.

Police say the incident occurred around 3 p.m. Tuesday when officers sought a person wanted for a probation violation.

The suspect ran into an apartment building where an officer fired once before apprehending the suspect.

It wasn’t immediately known whether the suspect and women knew each other.

Police say the incident is under investigation.
