WESTMINSTER, Vt. (AP) - One of the Vermonters cited for animal cruelty after more than a dozen dead deer were found at a holiday-themed park is now facing charges of stealing several antique items.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports (https://bit.ly/1iwFumz) that 24-year-old Brian Deistler was cited for grand larceny. Some items were recovered from him but several items remain missing.
These new charges came days after 16 deer carcasses, a dead pot-bellied pig and a dead pheasant were found in at Santa’s Land, where Deistler is caretaker. He and the owner, 55-year-old Lillian Billewicz, are scheduled to appear in court.
It wasn’t immediately known if Deistler is represented by a lawyer and he could not be located for comment.
Anyone with information about the missing antiques is asked to call Corp. Melissa Martin at 802-365-4942.
