TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - A man is in custody for allegedly taking a small Tempe city bus for a joyride before it crashed into a wall.
The bus was reported stolen while it was left running at the city transit center about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Tempe police say no passengers were on the Orbit bus when it was stolen.
After the bus crashed into a wall at another location in the downtown area, police say the suspect fled but was quickly arrested.
Police say 21-year-old Patric Moonie is being held on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and criminal trespass.
It was unclear Tuesday evening if Moonie has a lawyer yet.
Police say Orit buses provide service between Tempe residential neighborhoods and local destinations such as shopping centers.
