LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A 37-year-old Sulphur man has pleaded guilty in state district court to cruelty to juveniles.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) Jason Norman Nazworth faced two counts of cruelty to juveniles and two counts of second-degree cruelty to juveniles. He is to be sentenced May 7.

Prosecutor Shunette Thomas-Jordan said the abuse happened between September 2012 and April 2013.

Thomas-Jordan said Nazworth burned a 4-year-old girl’s hand by putting it on a heater; split her lip, requiring stitches; and bruised her hands and feet. She says he threatened a 6-year-old girl with a knife and bruised her feet.

Judge Robert Wyatt requested a pre-sentence investigation Monday after hearing the girls’ father give a victim-impact statement.
