OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - St. Landry Parish sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 34-year-old Morgan City man over the weekend for allegedly holding a toddler’s feet in scalding water.
Megan Vizena said Monday that Theron Thomas was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail Friday evening on one count of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.
Vizena tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1iwvfi9 ) Thomas is accused of holding the feet of a 2-year-old girl in water hot enough to require surgery.
She said the girl was brought to the emergency room of a hospital March 4 with burns to both feet. The victim has since been released from the hospital.
Thomas’ bond was set at $25,000, and he remains in jail.
It was unclear whether he has an attorney.
