Charges dismissed against Va deputy who killed dog

ABINGDON, Va. (AP) - Charges against a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy who killed a dog have been dismissed.

The sheriff’s office says Deputy D.M. Clark killed the dog with his personal handgun after it wandered onto his property, acted aggressive and tried to bite him.

The dog’s owner obtained a criminal warrant against Clark, saying the dog had been euthanized unnecessarily.

The Bristol Herald Courier (https://bit.ly/OgH8ej ) reports that the charges were dismissed Monday in Washington County General District Court.
