Authorities destroyed a pressure cooker left unattended on a street in East Boston Tuesday morning, a local news station reported.
Boston Police were called to a house on Lexington Street around 9:30 a.m. after the device was discovered on the sidewalk behind the home.
A member of the bomb squad reportedly detonated the device on East Boston Street at about 10 a.m. It’s still not clear if anything was inside it, CBS Boston reported.
A spokesperson for Boston Public Schools said the O’Donnell School, near where the device was found, was put into safe mode as a precaution.
Two pressure cookers were used as bombs at the Boston Marathon last year, killing three people and injuring 264 others.
