YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - Court documents in the killing of a 46-year-old Yankton man say the alleged suspect is believed to have used a sledge hammer to kill his uncle.

Twenty-eight-year-old Joshua Charles Hudson is charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault and grand theft In Todd Hudson’s death.

KCAU television reports (https://bit.ly/N1yXl1 ) that the documents allege that Hudson went to see Todd’s ex-wife after the killing. She told investigators that Hudson called her and told her that “I axed my uncle.”



Hudson was arrested Friday after a chase that started in Iowa and ended in South Dakota. Authorities say Hudson was driving his uncle’s truck, where officers found a blacksmith hammer.

A telephone message left with the public defender’s office was not immediately returned.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 19.
