SULPHUR, Okla. (AP) - The Chickasaw Cultural Center will feature an outdoor festival focusing on the cultural connection to horticulture this month.
The Three Sisters Spring Celebration starts Monday and goes through March 23. During the festival, the three sisters - corn, beans and squash- are recognized. An ancient method of gardening, called Three Sisters, uses an intercropping system to grow the three crops simultaneously.
Cultural demonstrations, including a stomp dance, will take place at the festival.
On April 12, the center will hold an Easter Celebration featuring an egg hunt.
