BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Birmingham fire officials say all residents escaped from a boarding home destroyed by a suspected arson fire.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1k9WXPi ) the home in the Fountain Heights neighborhood burned Sunday evening. Seven people inside the house all escaped unharmed.

Capt. Ernest Miller of the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service says investigators believe the blaze started on the front porch before spreading throughout the house. Firefighters reported seeing the smoke from about eight blocks away. Most of the roof ended up collapsing.

Miller says fire investigators suspect someone set the fire intentionally. No arrests have been announced.
