CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island are investigating the stabbing death of a 40-year-old man.

Officers responding to a call of people yelling at a Central Islip residence found the man lying in the street.

Police say he had been stabbed in the torso. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.



Police identified him as Carlos Velasquez of Central Islip.

A suspect was placed under arrest. Police say Wilfredo Flores, of Bay Shore, was charged with first-degree manslaughter.

It wasn’t immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
