MERCED, Calif. (AP) - Prosecutors have declined to file charges against a Merced County employee who was arrested after police found firearms and ammunition at her home.

The Fresno Bee says (https://bit.ly/1ka9i61) Marissa Ann Gonzales’ longtime boyfriend, Pedro Garcia, told investigators the shotgun, rifle, five handguns, ammo and body armor all belonged to him.

Garcia pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of being a felon in possession of firearms and other charges.

Police said gang members were using the home as a weapons stash house.

Prosecutors say there is insufficient evidence to charge the 35-year-old Gonzales, who works in the county’s Human Services Agency as a family services representative.

The couple’s three children were turned over to Child Protective Services but Gonzales hopes to get them back now that the case against her has been dismissed.

Gonzales says Garcia made “poor choices.”
