COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Hundreds of University of South Carolina students are ready to kick up their heels all day and all night to raise money for kids.

The annual USC Dance Marathon is slated to start Saturday and conclude at noon Sunday at the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center.

The event is a student-led philanthropy that raises funds and awareness for the Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital in Columbia.

Last year, about 800 participants raised about $224,000.

The Dance Marathon is in its fifteenth year and unites a wide variety of student and community members. So far, it has raised more than $1 million for the children’s hospital.
