SAN DIEGO (AP) - A San Diego elementary school principal accused of gun and drug possession charges has agreed to a plea deal and been placed on probation for three years.
The U-T San Diego reports (https://bit.ly/1g0YNNR ) that San Diego Superior Court Judge Louis Hanoian sentenced Rachel Escobedo last month after she pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors: possession of methamphetamine and possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle. She’s also ordered to complete 40 hours of volunteer work.
Escobedo originally faced felony charges for her Sept. 7 arrest. Police saw an open vodka bottle and some marijuana in Escobedo’s car and then found a loaded pistol that’d been reported stolen and small bags containing methamphetamine and hydrocodone pills.
Escobedo was principal at Lee Elementary School in Paradise Hills and is on administrative leave.
