CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) - Residents who live in several northeast Oklahoma counties can attend one of three seminars focused on current trends in drug and alcohol abuse among students.

The first seminar begins Tuesday for residents who live in Craig, Rogers and Mayes counties, and will partner local law enforcement officials with teachers.

District Attorney Janice Steidley says the seminars were timed to take place before many students leave next month on spring break - a period of time when they’ll be away from their homes and usually unsupervised.

Schools in Vinita, Claremore and Pryor will host the presentations, and school districts in the area are also sending invitations by phone and website posts.
