BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Marquell Oliver scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds while helping Parker win its first state championship since 1975 with a 56-46 victory over Ramsay on Saturday night.
Oliver earned Most Valuable Player honors to give No. 6 ranked Parker (23-6) its fourth state title in school history.
Ramsey (22-14) jumped out to an early 16-10 first quarter lead and then extended that lead to 21-13 after a bucket from Luke Albert with 6:08 left in the half. But Parker closed the half on a 14-2 run to take a 27-23 lead into halftime. Oliver led the charge with six points and five rebounds in the quarter.
Omari Williams finished with 10 points and helped Parker take a 39-29 into the final period and holding that spread into the buzzer.
Mitchell Baldwin led No. 8 ranked Ramsay with 11 points and 11 rebounds while Jordan Millsap finished with 10 points.
