SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - The head of the Sarasota company Tube Dude has begun repaying a $56,000 grant that he received from the city in 2011.

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune (https://bit.ly/1kDsF6U ) reported Saturday that Scott Gerber agreed to repay the grant after a former employee and an investor alleged he misused the money. The company creates colorful tube statutes that sit outside many Sarasota businesses.

Gerber says he voluntarily opted to repay the economic-development grant and that he believes he can still create the 44 jobs and other requirements outlined in the grant agreement.
