JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A 54-year-old man from Saucier will spend time in jail and on house arrest after his guilty plea to three felony counts of timber theft.

A news release Friday from Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann says Harold Edwin Simmons entered the plea after he was accused of stealing timber from so-called “16th Section” public school trust lands in Pearl River County .

His plea agreement calls for him to serve thirty consecutive days in the Pearl River County Jail, 48 weekends in the jail and one and a half years on house arrest.



Simmons also must pay restitution totaling $126,000.
