PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - One teenage boy was killed and another was injured when they were attacked by a 115-pound bull mastiff dog in northern New Jersey.
But authorities say it’s not clear what sparked the attack.
The Record (https://bit.ly/1huqXVs) reports the 13-year-old boys were walking in Paterson when they were attacked Friday. They ran off in different directions, and one boy was later reported missing.
A search was conducted, and the missing youth was found dead around 11 p.m. Friday. A cause of death hasn’t been determined.
The other teen and the dog’s owner were both treated for bite wounds.
The newspaper said the dog’s owner stabbed the animal “quite a few times” during the attack. The dog was euthanized, and authorities say its remains will be tested for rabies.
