KINCAID, Ill. (AP) - The police chief in the central Illinois village of Kincaid has been arrested on felony charges of official misconduct.

Illinois State Police officers took 45-year-old Richard S. Adams into custody Friday just days after the village mayor was arrested for violating a protection order and drug possession.

Adams was released from the Christian County Jail in Taylorville after posting bail. The Christian County state’s attorney’s office and the Illinois State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor office filed charges related to allegations that Adams used his position to have village employees make repairs at his home on village time.

No phone listing could be found for Adams.

Kincaid Mayor Doug Thomas is free on bond and has declined to comment on his arrest.

Kincaid is about 30 miles southeast of Springfield.
