BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) - Beaufort County residents can get empty their cabinets of a variety of items thanks to the sheriff’s office.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Investigations Section and the County Solid Waste and Recycling Division are scheduled to conduct a roundup Saturday at the County Public Works South facility.

People can come to the site and get rid of unwanted cleaning products, batteries, paints, fire extinguishers and expired or leftover medications.

The county is collecting these items for proper disposal in an effort to prevent harm to the environment. Officials ask that caps and lids be tightened and that products be left in their original containers.
