HOUSTON (AP) - Staring stoically at visitors to Houston is a 6-foot cowboy standing in the lobby of a local Hilton who rode into town in time for the annual rodeo.
But this 250-pound cowboy is part of a 750-pound, hand-sculpted chocolate Western scene the Hilton Americas will unveil on Monday. This is the second year the hotel is using chocolate to honor the annual rodeo.
The Houston Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1pK3FyQ) the scene was created by the hotel’s pastry chef Mahesh Weerasinghe. In addition to the lasso-bearing, swashbuckling cowboy, the scene includes a chocolate cowgirl, calf, wagon wheel, guitar and cactus.
Together, the scene rings in at more than 1.8 million calories.
The pastry chef has previously created chocolate Christmas scenes and a smaller rodeo display last year.
