NEW ALBANY, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a head-on crash that killed three people in Pontotoc County.

A preliminary investigation shows that on Friday night, 51-year-old Margel Swann of New Albany was driving a 1995 Isuzu pickup eastbound in the westbound lanes of Mississippi Highway 6. His vehicle hit a 2004 Honda Accord driven by 43-year-old Connie Malone of Thaxton.

Swann was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from his truck. He died at the scene.

Connie Malone also died on the scene, as did one of her passengers, 43-year-old Christopher Ensey of Baldwyn.

Malone’s other two passengers, 38-year-old Timothy Malone Thaxton, and a 9-year-old whose name was not released, were taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Each person in Malone’s car was wearing a seat belt.
