SALEM, Ore. (AP) - The Oregon World War II Memorial is nearly ready for the public dedication ceremony on the grounds of the State Capitol in Salem.

The Statesman Journal reports (https://stjr.nl/1kwOnvO) the dedication is set for 1:30 p.m. on Friday, which coincides with the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

The public ceremony is scheduled to last about an hour and will include several speakers, a memorial service and vintage aircraft flyovers.



The memorial features a 33-foot tall obelisk and a granite wall with the names of 3,771 Oregon servicemen who were killed in action.
