BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A teenager was in stable condition after being shot outside a Birmingham convenience store.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/RTssTL ) that the shooting happened just before 9 p.m. Saturday outside the store in the Ensley neighborhood. The victim’s name was not immediately released.

Birmingham police Lt. Julie Quigley says the teen, who’s about 15 or 16, was shot in the upper body but was conscious and talking as he was transported to UAB Hospital.

Quigley says the shooting stemmed from an argument in the convenience store parking lot, but it wasn’t immediately known whether the victim and shooter know each other. No suspects were immediately taken into custody.
