KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. (AP) - Students from one Brevard County high school hope to build a small satellite with the help of Kennedy Space Center.

Florida Today (https://on.flatoday.com/1iINSKF ) reported on Sunday that 15 students from Merritt Island High School have spent moths designing the satellite.

The teens are now presenting their project to a panel of NASA engineers. Their satellite would measure shock and vibration of a rocket during launch and would transmit data to a sister satellite being built by students at California Polytechnic State University.

If the Florida students’ project passes a critical design review, the high school could become just the second in the national to launch a satellite into space.
