CINCINNATI (AP) - The driver of a stolen SUV that flipped on a bridge between Cincinnati and northern Kentucky, killing her 4-year-old grandson, has been charged with vehicular homicide and theft.
Police say 43-year-old Geanna Mitchell of Cincinnati stole the SUV from a relative Saturday night and was driving while impaired when she crossed the center line on the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge. Mitchell hit an oncoming car and a barrier, causing the SUV to flip on its top.
Mitchell, her 9-year-old daughter and the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
But Mitchell’s grandson, 4-year-old Logan Mitchell, was severely injured and died at a hospital.
Police say the boy was wearing a seatbelt but was not in a car seat.
Mitchell’s arraignment is Monday. It’s unclear whether she has an attorney.
