JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - School districts interested in establishing new residential schools can apply to the state education department.

Applications are due July 31.

Residential schools are district-run boarding schools that accept students in grades nine through 12.

The department, in a release, says it has previously approved residential schools in seven districts.
