WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - One of two people accused of shooting a Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputy last year has pleaded no contest to attempted first-degree murder and other charges.
The Wichita Eagle (https://bit.ly/1gzaMs5) reports 27-year-old Clara Crosser of Gardner also pleaded no contest Friday to aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, two counts of burglary, criminal damage to property and possession of methamphetamine. She will be sentenced March 25.
Co-defendant Jason Perez is scheduled for trial Feb. 24. He is facing 14 felony charges, including attempted first-degree murder.
Deputy Lucas Powell was shot in the eye at the end of a high-speed chase March 11 that began after he attempted a traffic stop.
Powell says he lost vision in 25 percent of his right eye, and the rest of his vision is blurry.
