NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - Police say a 59-year-old man has died after falling into a trash compactor at a transfer station in New London.
Authorities say the man became lodged in the machine’s hopper Thursday afternoon and suffered “traumatic injuries.”
Police tell WVIT-TV (https://bit.ly/1khEZtK) that the man was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Officials did not immediately release the victim’s name, but say he was a New London resident.
Police and OSHA are investigating.
