EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - An East Providence man is facing a slew of charges after police say he crashed his car into several other vehicles and led police on a dangerous chase before being arrested.

Forty-nine-year-old Christopher Pari was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of accidents and driving to endanger after Thursday morning’s events in East Providence.

Authorities say Pari hit a car head-on and struck several other vehicles. Police say there were five damaged cars and two downed utility poles at the scene, and Pari led officers on a brief chase before they took him into custody.

Pari and three other drivers were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Pari is under police guard at the hospital. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
