CHRISTIANA, Del. (AP) - Officials say six people were injured and more than two dozen displaced when a two-alarm fire broke out at the Salem Village apartment complex in Christiana.

Firefighters found heavy flames when they arrived at the three-story building on Oakdale Road around 4 a.m. Friday.

Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company Chief A.J. Schall says four residents and two firefighters were injured. He says New Castle County Police officers arrived first and helped evacuate the 12-unit building and it took an hour for firefighters to control the blaze.

Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Robert Fox says damage to the building was extensive and investigators are trying to determine how the fire started.

Officials say 20 adults and six children were displaced by the fire.
