RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Henrico County police say a Richmond man has been charged with a misdemeanor after a 13-year-old student brought a gun to school.

Lt. Linda Toney says in a news release that 26-year-old Jimmy Cunningham II was charged with reckless handling of a firearm.

The male student was taking into custody after bringing the unloaded gun to Wilder Middle School in Henrico earlier this month. The student was charged with possession of a firearm on school property.



The statement says Cunningham is an acquaintance of the student’s family. Police declined to specify how the youth got the gun.
