BELTON, Texas (AP) - A Central Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2013 shooting deaths of his mother and his stepfather at their Bell County home.
A jury in Belton on Wednesday convicted Darrell Wayne Parker of capital murder. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty so the 43-year-old Little River-Academy man received an automatic life prison term without possibility of parole.
The victims were 63-year-old Cathy Youngblood and her 62-year-old husband, Chuck Youngblood.
Parker earlier this week testified that he had a contentious relationship with his stepfather and the men argued before the Jan. 10, 2013, shootings. The bodies were found a few days later after a friend asked law officers to check on the Youngbloods.
Parker had the pair’s vehicle when he was located.
